by Dmitri Skomorochov I promised to write a "Sister Song" or poem
For every sister of the House.
I'll not forget the incident where my life went awry,
The only good thing that I'll note is that I didn't die,
I met a maid of long brown hair, she had an angel's face,
She also had a dagger where her poison was in place,
I met the maid one evening on a cold and winter night,
I'd been chatting with some friends of mine about my latest fight,
When in the room the crowd had gone quite silent and amazed,
The ladies all were pouting as their men were all adazed,
It took some time until I saw what set the room askew,
That's when I saw the lovely maid, who nobody there knew,
She walked into the crowd as if she owned the feasting hall,
And it was with her grace and poise that she amazed us all,
She was tall and lean and graceful, yet walked with fighter's skill,
Her eyes were like a tiger who was ready for the kill,
The men all gazed with overt lust, which she with charm ignored,
But only I was brave enough to test her with a word,
I told her that her skin was fair, her face was love defined,
Her movements like a lioness, so fearsome and so fine,
I told her that I didn't think that I would have a chance,
To equal her magnificence as we began to dance,
We danced the floor while all the men were watching hungrily,
And all the ladies in the hall had quite enough to see,
Dancing came unto an end, and I led her out the door,
And off into the bushes where we danced a little more,
I could lie and tell you listeners that the earth moved for us both,
But in truth, nothing happened but a knifeprick at my throat,
When I woke, twas almost dawn, and I was quite alone,
Naked, robbed, and shivering, and frozen to the bone,
I was amazed that all she'd done was put me to my sleep,
The poison in her knife had left for me my life to keep,
But life was all I got to hold, all other things were gone,
So I stood there and thanked the maid for showing me the dawn,
I'll not forget the incident where my life went awry,
The only good thing that I'll note is that I didn't die,
I'd met a maid of long brown hair, she had an angel's face,
She also had a dagger where her poison was in place.
